Hydroseeding is a cost-effective alternative to sod for many homeowners. The cost of purchasing and laying centipede sod  is often up to 7x the cost of a hydroseeded centipede lawn.  You can save even more by using one of our quality seed blends to give you a lush lawn without the high cost of a full centipede lawn.  Blends provide you with the proper mix of grasses to allow centipede grass to slowly take over the yard.

Hydroseeding also offers extra protection to your seed that broadcast spreading and straw cover cannot. Broadcast or hand-seeding can be uneven and patchy.  Opportunistic weeds will develop in these open patches.  Using straw cover can even invite weeds! The straw bales often have seeds from weeds growing in the field.
Rye Grass Patch
In hydroseeding, quality seeds are blended with cellulose (recycled paper pulp), mulch and fertilizers before being sprayed evenly onto the soil. The bright-green mulch is a visual aid, ensuring even coverage.  It quickly fades in sunlight to the color of dead grass in only a few days.  The cellulose and mulch retain moisture, enabling seeds to germinate quicker- in around 10 to 13 days. The extra moisture also increases the number of seeds that germinate, giving you a thick, green cover of grass.  You can expect an established stand in 3-4 weeks with proper care and watering.

The fertilizers in your hydroseeding blend will help develop a strong and healthy root system. The roots develop more quickly with fertilizers. Strong roots are essential in order for your new grass to survive hot North Carolina summers.

Additionally, the mulch will protect your newly seeded plot from run-off or erosion until the root system develops.  Forrest Seeding Service can blend additives that provide an extra level of protection for erosion-prone areas, such as embankments, berms, or slopes.
